Initiation to wood surface design

This class introduces you to creating surface decorations on wood. Discover the art of covering wood with visually rich, decorative patterns, colors and textures, using both traditional and unusual approaches. Combining additive and subtractive methods, you will learn techniques for layering carving, color and experimental mark making.

To put these notions to use, each participant will make a series of test panels, exploring different combinations of techniques of their choosing.

Practical course

  • Technical exercises and making of an object/piece of furniture by the participants
