Woodworking Finishing
This course’s objective is the learning of the common finishes used in woodworking. You will learn the different products available on the market, the approaches and possibilities of natural finishes, the methods of preparing the wood, the application techniques and much more.
In order to put these notions to use, each participant will practice on exercise boards and then apply the chosen finish to their own woodworking project previously made in one of our courses.

- Rags and accessories
- Basic safety concepts in the finishing shop
- Repairing minor defects with putty
- Raising the grain
- Surface preparation
- Sealing and filling the grain
- Making a pigmented oil stain
- Applying and layering coats
- Sanding between coats
- Materials and tools needed to carry out exercises and/or projects
- Course notebook
- If necessary, loan of hearing protectors and safety glasses
IMPORTANT: You must bring a small woodworking project you previously made in one of our courses (examples: case from the course L’apprenti.e 1, box from the course Le coffret).
If you have one, you can bring:
- a dust mask

- Principles of impregnation and layering coats
- Presentation, creation and application of a pigmented oil stain
- Application of 2d and 3d finishing coat, sanding between coats
